Sharqia Governorate and
the city of Zagazig:
Sharqia Governorate is one of the
provinces of the third schematic region which includes the
provinces (Ismailia- Suez - Port Said- South Sinai - North
Sinai).
Sharqia Governorate is considered as the third province in
the population at the level of the Republic after Cairo and
Giza governorates with a population estimated in 2010 (6.884
million people).
Sharqia Governorate takes
a unique position between the
provinces of East Delta
the guard of the eastern
entrance of the
Republic and to
its unique
position and mediated
by the
East Delta it is a meeting point for
the most
important transportation routes for
Ismailia, Port Said,
Cairo,El-Garbia
and El-Qalyobia
Zagazig city is
the capital of Sharqia Governorate
and is
located in the
eastern part of
the Nile
Delta. Zagazig is located
a distance of approximately 80 km
northeast of the
city of
Cairo. It is considered
one of
the major
cities and is located on the
Sea Canal Moyes. And
the
population of
the city
of Zagazig according to 2010
is about
one million
people; also the population of
Sharqia Governorate is about
6 million people.
And the
city also
has Zagazig university
that includes many of the colleges
and the
university
hospitals,
as the city has
a branch of the Al-Azhar
University,
and the Institute
of Azhari
El-Deny of Zagazig and which
is
considered as a
relic history in the
beginning of the
twentieth century.
